Serial Bonds:
007 Storytelling since Casino Royale (2006)

Colin Burnett

Assistant Professor of Film and Media Studies

Moderated by: Cynthia Wichelman, M.D.

The relationship between the Craig-era James Bond films and the rest of the 007 series has emerged as something of a riddle. Fans have speculated that Casino Royale (2006) is a prequel, but where that leaves the three subsequent films remains unclear. Belonging to a long line of attempts to serialize the life story of one of popular fiction's most iconic characters, Craig's films are best understood as a transquel series whose ambition is to produce something that has remained elusive in 007 media: a definitive biography.
